Naturopathic herbal medicine is used as a form of treatment which is wholistic in the sense that the whole person rather than a set of symptoms are treated as a way of enhancing total health and well-being. All people who attend the clinic or yoga centre are assessed by Maria who worked for 20+ years as a registered nurse, and is a naturopathic herbalist, massage therapist and yoga instructor. An integrated treatment plan is then developed which may include herbal medicine, nutritional advice, remedial massage and yoga. Yoga is undertaken either on an individual basis or within a class environment.
Integrated treatment and the use and knowledge of the healing properties of herbs has been acquired and refined over long ages through history.
As practised at this Centre of Balance, herbal medicine is a safe, gentle and effective component in the treatment of particular ailments and the promotion of general well-being.
Most commonly, naturopathic treatment consists of a First Consultation of about one and a half hours and including photographic Iris Analysis as a diagnostic aid. Where appropriate a herbal mix is prescribed. Over a 6 - 12 week period two more Follow Up Consultations provide feedback to the practitioner and support and feedback to the patient, allowing refinement of the treatment.
After this time most people will only require occasional contact while continuing with herbal treatment; others will continue with other forms of therapy (massage, yoga etc) for a longer period of time as necessary.
Many, but not all, private health funds offer rebates.

NATUROPATHIC HERBAL MEDICINE
Initial appointment: 60-90mins $120
Subsequent appointment: 30mins $65
(if herbal medicines are prescribes as treatment, prescriptions can be filled at Goulds Naturopathica, 71-73 Liverpool St Hobart at an approximate cost of $30 for a 6 week treatment).
Generally, 3 appointments over a course of 3 months is sufficient for most ailments; if continuing treatment beyond 3 months, a check-in every 8-12 weeks may be all that is necessary, in addition to prescribed herbs if applicable.
Please note iridology will not be available for online consultations, though a time can be arranged to pop in for your iridology photo to be taken at no addition charge.
